As of today, Sunday 20th May 2007, RachelAPP is no more. No, i am not dead, and i haven't retired from music, i am now simply making music under my real name; ta da da, ta da da, say hello to Nat JM!!
This website will mostly remain as it is, as an archive resource.
Head over to www.natjm.co.uk and my new MySpace page for all the buzz about Nat JM!
Here's an explanation about the name change...
Some people might call it suicide to change my artist name after using it for over 2 years.
I have decided to kill off RachelAPP because it was a name i was hiding under. Privately, i've always told my friends that one day, i might be brave enough to make music under my real name. Well, this day has arrived. Bye bye RachelAPP, here comes Nat JM.
"Nat" stands for Natalie, but all my friends call me Nat, which is why i've chosen this abbreviated version. "M" is my surname initial. "J" is an adopted initial, in reference to my mother's first name, because ten years on, my mother continues to inspire me. She was the driving force in my life when i was growing up and her memory is still a driving force for me today.
I have been using Nat JM as my pen name for a while, and i've increasingly felt awkward about using RachelAPP for my music. After all, both my words and my music come from me, the person that i am, and perhaps the person that i wish i were. Either way, Nat JM is one and only person. You cannot separate the musician from the writer, and i've recently grown frustrated with having a stage name that was a lie. Everyone assumed my real name was Rachel and frankly, it always felt a bit odd to me. RachelAPP was a reference to my previous project called APP(HLMHB) - that name meant something to me but RachelAPP itself never meant much, except being a bad private joke.
RachelAPP has released 3 EPs, 1 single and 1 album. NatJM has released nothing of yet, but is working on some new material.
I've musically grown over the years, and while there is a certain continuity between RachelAPP and Nat JM's music, listeners will also be able to hear an evolution.

As a Napster user, i'm totally excited to say that my debut album is finally available on it, as well as my 2 EPs! It makes me a geek - i know -
but it's nice to see my stuff on there lol

It's November and the summer has gone by just like that! Bam, bam!
I'd like to write i've been working on my second album and playing loads of gigs but erm, i haven't...
I have been working on some new songs but i have also been rather distracted by other things happening in my life
- some good (new girlfriend), some not so good (job on the other side of London).
So...
- i am working on some new songs for "Devil Smile", the follow-up album to "Fire In My Head"
- i am in the process of updating my live set list and sorting out some gigs
- i have given up the idea of filming a video for "more sugar" - the moment is gone :-(
- i have demoed songs for "The Chaos EP", an internet only release to be out in January

I've just found the most hilarious podcast ever! It's called "best of the worst" and features all the "worst music", according to the podcaster. How i found out about it?
Well, you've guessed it, a track of mine is on it lol ("in denial").
Anyway, there's a voting system so please vote for me,
as i find the idea of being the best of the worst totally amusing!

I very much enjoyed playing in Bristol last night. The promoter was the nicest guy ever - a very well organised and friendly guy, the perfect qualities for a promoter!
I've updated the page for my debut album"Fire in my head" - you can now stream songs, and buy high quality downloads.
15 March 06
I played in Leeds last sunday and on friday, i'm playing in Bristol. Check Gigs & Reviews page for details.
It was meant to be a full on tour but had problems with some dates + my driver let me down, so two dates is all i could do with
public transport lol
I've finally completed the animation video for my track "my pain" - i've been using an application called Moho.
It's quite fun! Still learning how to use it (as you will see from the basic animation style of the video hehe) but definitively a cool app.
Go to the "Fire In My Head" page to download it.
I've been writing quite a few songs the last couple of weeks and i debuted one of them, called "fake friend", last sunday in Leeds.
I'm slowly but surely writing songs for my follow-up album, which i hope to record later in the year, for a release in early 2007

2006 started rather slowly for me as i had the flu in early january. However, i got back on my feet for my gig at the Betsey Trotwood -
thanks to Gav' for organising it!
I have started work on an animated video for "my pain".
I am setting up a UK tour for the 3rd week of March. It will kick off with a gig in Leeds on the 12th. Details of venues etc are still a bit sketchy as the whole tour is a DIY affair but i will post details in due time.
